Argentina’s security minister said Colombian drug traffickers operating in the country pose a growing threat, reported local media Thursday.
Speaking at a South American regional security conference in the northern Colombian city of Cartagena, Argentina’s Security Minister Nilda Garre expressed her concern over Colombian drug traffickers operating in Argentina.
Garre said her country has become a staging route for Colombian drug shipments headed for European markets.
As evidence of this, Garre pointed to recent high profile busts that included the capture of the sister-in-law of notorious druglord Daniel Barrera Barrera, alias “Loco Barrera,” and the seizing of over 500 kilos of cocaine intended for Spain.
The security minister urged South American countries to share information and work together to combat drug trafficking on the continent.
