Argentina President Cristina Fernandez began an official visit to Colombia with a meeting with her counterpart Juan Manuel Santos Thursday.

Fernandez met with Santos at the presidential palace where she was received with full military honors.

The heads of state held a private meeting in the ceremonial hall prior to “an enlarged meeting” where the two leaders signed five bilateral agreements.

The agreements were concerning natural risk management, equality for women, the fight against human trafficking and extradition procedures.

Santos stressed the importance of the extradition treaty, stressing the commitment of both nations to prosecute offenders where ever they may reside.

Fernandez labelled the agreement “very important.”

The Argentine’s previous visit to Colombia was in April 2012 at the sixth summit of the America’s. The main talking point was regarding the status of the Falkland Islands, to which Argentina claim sovereignty.

The last bilateral meeting between Santos and Fernandez was in August 2011 in Buenos Aires, in which relations were boosted with the signing of eight bilateral agreements.
