Three months before the end of his second and last term, President Alvaro Uribe can count on the approval of 72% of Colombians, according to a poll conducted by Gallup Colombia.
In a previous poll, held in February, the president’s policies had the approval of 77% of Colombians.
However, Uribe’s popularity rose five percentage points to 68% compared to three months ago when the president’s popularity hit an all-time low of 63%.
While not directly affecting Uribe’s approval rating or popularity, the same poll shows that Colombians are increasingly worried about the economy, health care and unemployment. 68% of the Colombian population thinks the government is not doing enough to tackle the lack of jobs.
Also, the majority of Colombians disapprove of how the Uribe administration is handling corruption in the country.
However, positivity of Colombians is on the increase. While in February 41% of the interviewees said the country was heading the right direction, this month 45% thinks the country will be performing better.
