After 21 years of appearig on stages around the world, the group is setting up a regular program for the first time, scheduled to perform its dances at weekly shows in the Cafe Theater in Poblado, Medellin.

“The idea is to establish a regular, cultural show for citizens of Medellin and tourists alike ” the Ballet’s director Zuleima Asprilla told Colombia Reports.

The Folkloric Ballet of Antioquia used to perform only at private events and one public show in Medellin every six months. “It’s not logical that the Ballet travels internationally, but in its own city it only does private performances,” Asprilla said, explaining the decision to set up the permanent program.

Until the end of August, the company will perform “Asi es Colombia” each Thursday and Friday, demonstrating the cultural diversity of the country. Each night, the audience will see different colorful and exotic dances from the Andes, the Caribbean and the Pacific.

The weekly program for the season September-December will be announced later in the summer.

Tickets are available directly at the theater. For more information on the Folkloric Ballet of Antioquia visit their website.
