Colombia’s Inspector General’s Office has opened investigations into Antioquia Governor Luis Alfredo Ramos for alleged contract irregularities.
The supposed irregularities pertain to some 40 contracts in which a possible breach of conduct occurred in the areas of road works and supplies, among others, Caracol Radio reported Thursday.
The investigation is at a preliminary stage and is expected to be followed next week by a visit to the governor’s office.
In February of this year, the Supreme Court also opened investigations into Ramos for alleged links to paramilitaries, after extradited ex-AUC member “El Tuso” testified against him from his U.S. jail cell.
Ramos was inaugurated as Antioquia governor for a period of three years. His term will be up in December of 2011.
