Actress Martina Garcia is attending the Toronto Film festival to promote the film Rabia in which she plays the main roll.
The film, directed by Ecuadorian Sebastian Cordero, co-stars Gustavo Sanchez Parra (Amores Perros).
Rabia will be showing at the Contemporary World Cinema exhibition until September 19. The film tells the story of an immigrant couple in trouble – construction worker Jose Maria kills his boss and hides himself in an attic full of rats in the house where Rosa works as domestic help. Rosa isn’t always treated well by her bosses, and Jose Maria has to watch them mistreating her from his hidden location while wanting to defend his wife.
The film is adapted from the novel by Argentinian writer Sergio Bizzio, also known for the drama XXY, about an hermaphrodite. It waby s produced Dynamo Capital, Telecinco Cinema and Monfort Producciones in association with Mexico’s Tequila Gang (which counts Guillermo del Toro as a member). It was filmed in Basque country, in Spain, with a budget of 3.5 million euros, reports El Espectador.
