Colombia News - Miss Colombia

2011 Miss Colombia Catalina Robayo talked to El Tiempo about her diet, love life, and the past 7 months as Colombia’s most beautiful woman.

Robayo said wearing the pageant crown has been a phenomenal experience for her career, and personal life.

“This life is paradise. I want it to last another year,” she said.

The pageant queen said she has fallen in love with somebody, but “cannot talk about it…but I’m very happy.”

But the life of Miss Colombia can also be stressful. Preparations for the upcoming Miss Universe pageant in Brazil have pressured Robayo to lose weight, travel more, and “live this year to the fullest.”

“Of course it’s exhausting,” Robayo said in reference to her life as Miss Colombia. “I am a human being. But, for example, when I’m riding this chariot, I have to think that four months in November I will have to return the crown and next year when you see the new queen I will be there saying to myself: Why did not I take advantage of this? I picture this and it inspires me to live this year to the fullest.”

While life in the limelight has provoked rumors regarding the queen’s weight and personal life, they haven’t prevented Robayo from staying true to herself and her morals.

People have said that Catalina Robayo was “curvier” in the Cartagena competition that she is now. She address the issue by saying, “Sometimes people see you when you don’t look your best, but what matters is how you feel, because that is what is reflected.”

“Yes, I’ve been told that I’m skinnier now than when I was in Cartagena. Perhaps the pressure has generated some anxiety and caused me to lose weight. But yes, I think I have shed a few pounds.”

Media have also reported that Colombia’s Miss Huila, Natalia Valenzuela, was offended that Robayo won the title of Miss Colombia. According to Robayo, “that was a lie.”

“That was something that never happened. The five [finalists] all get along very well. We are a group of friends, we share everything, and we are very close.”

Robayo said in regards to the upcoming Miss Universe competition that she is “very confident in what [she] will wear, with what I have and I am going to approach [the competition] with the mentality that this opportunity will be unique. I think I’m going to do well.”
