Colombia’s oldest rebel group FARC has destroyed 20 homes in an attack in the south-western region of Putumayo on the border to Ecuador, reported local media on Friday.

The rebel attack happened early Friday morning when guerrillas fired explosives to the rural settlement of Puerto Colon from a nearby hill. The detonations destroyed 20 homes and left two minors seriously injured.

Authorities said the FARC was probably planning to hit a nearby police station but missed.

The incident happened in the middle of ongoing peace talks between Colombia’s government and the rebel group which in Havana, Cuba.
