Colombia electronic stars Bomba Estereo release ‘Pure Love’ video

Returning from a world tour, including stops in Mexico, the electro-cumbia band, Bomba Estereo, is back in Colombia to release another highly anticipated video entitled “Pure Love.”

The music video comes off the third single released from their 2012 album Elegancia Tropical.

Surfing a trend in Colombian music (also exemplified by bands such as ChocQuibTown and Systema Solar) Bogota-based Bomba Estereo is known for mixing traditional Colombian rhythms with modern influences, in what they like to refer to “psychedelic cumbia.”

Bomba Estéreo has performed across the world, including South by Southwest, Bonnaroo, Coachella Festival and Austin City Limits Music Festival in the United States, as well as Lollapalooza Chile and the Vive Latino festival in Mexico City.

Simon Mejia said in an interview with Sounds and Colors that is exciting to see so many non-Spanish speakers interested in the sounds coming out of Colombia in the United States and Europe.

“It´s amazing to see how people who don´t talk Spanish get connected with our music, it´s a way of seeing how a so local music can be universal at the time, it´s all about Africa, and about dance music, which connects the whole world around one same feeling,” said Mejia in the interview.
