The latest poll by broadcaster RCN and Semana magazine shows presidential candidate Juan Manuel Santos making a rebound to lead the poll with one point advantage over his main opponent Antanas Mockus. However, if a second round of voting was necessary, Santos would lose to Mockus.
According to the poll 35% of the voters plan to vote for Santos, while Mockus can count on 34%.
In the previous poll by the same pollster, Mockus had 38% of the voters’ support and Santos 29%.
8% say they will vote for Conservative Party candidate Noemi Sanin, 4% for Liberal Party candidate Rafael Pardo, another 4% for Polo Democratico candidate Gustavo Petro, and 3% for Cambio Radical candidate German Vargas Lleras.
9% of the interviewees did not know who to vote for on May 30.
Other polls released on Thursday and Friday showed that the rise the “green wave” of Antanas Mockus, whose popularity has grown immensely over the past few months, has come to a end. These polls, however, gave the Green Party leader a comfortable advantage over his rival.
All polls agree that if a second round were to take place, Mockus would win. A RCN / Semana poll suggests that Mockus will walk away with the presidency – securing 48% of vote compared to Santos’ 41%.
