New Hair, New Music, New Album, Same Juanes

Colombia’s Grammy-winning solo rock artist, Juanes, is coming out with his sixth album soon, and he says that it will be different, but will not lose the Colombian essence.

Juanes told Latina Magazine that his artistic personality and his new music is as “constant and authentic as ever,” as he approaches his sixth album.

The Medellin-raised international singer last released an album in 2010, and discussed his upcoming project with popular TV and Radio host Ryan Seacrest earlier in the year.

“I want to try [to produce more songs in English] because I am more fluent in the language,” Juanes told Seacrest, reflecting that when he first came to the United States in 1987, he did not speak a word of English.  During the interview with Seacrest, Juanes performed a song that he anticipates will be on this coming album that combines Spanish and English called “Cumbia Sexy.”

Juanes also commented on his relationship with his wife, model Karen Martinez, and family saying that it has been stressful and difficult with both of their demanding jobs, but “I really like to meet them in different places for a few days of quiet and enjoy their company.  We were lucky in Aruba it is the perfect place to take my kids to the beach and chat with my wife.”

Regarding his changes in physical appearance, Juanes insisted that changing his hair will not affect his musical style and that he hopes fans were not too disappointed at the new look from a few years back now.

“Cutting my hair was a way of rebelling against the stereotypes and breaking up the monotony.  I want to link my music and the messages of my songs…appearance has always been secondary to me,” he told Latina Magazine.

Juanes’ new album will be produced exclusively in Los Angeles, California.
