The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, known as FARC, still holds 25 political captives, the Times said. At least 700 or more Colombians kidnapped for ransom may still be held by leftist guerrillas or criminals, the newspaper said.Last week’s rescue freed the French-Colombian Ingrid Betancourt, three U.S. military contractors and 11 members of the Colombian security forces. FARC uses ransom paid to free hostages and cocaine trafficking for revenue, NYT said.The relatives of FARC captives have formed a group called Asfamipaz that holds a weekly vigil in Bogota to remind others that their relatives are still held captive, NYT said.
