Colombian Senator Piedad Cordoba said Wednesday that she has not received official notification of the charges brought against her by the Inspector General for her alleged involvement in “FARC-politics,” reported W Radio.
Speaking from Switzerland, where Cordoba is currently rallying support for a “humanitarian exchange” of FARC hostages for incarcerated guerrillas, she said “I have not been informed. I have also not been, in the preliminary phase, heard by the Inspector General, I have no knowledge of the relationship that I supposedly have with the FARC.”
Colombia’s Inspector General’s Office announced on Tuesday that the senator would be investigated for allegations that she collaborated with the FARC outside of the parameters of her role as a hostage release negotiator.
The investigation stems from evidence allegedly found in files belonging to dead FARC leader “Raul Reyes,” which the Inspector General’s Office claims suggest that the “Colombians for Peace” leader was involved in “FARC-politics.”
Cordoba has requested that her lawyer present her with all the information about the charges, so that she can make a decision about how to proceed.
