Colombia’s Supreme Court Tuesday postponed the election of a new national prosecutor general for a seventh time, after failing to reach the two-thirds majority required to make the selection.
According to reports, no candidate managed to get the 16 out of 24 votes required to win the post.
The saga of a new prosecutor general’s election has been going on for months, with the court unable to reach the necessary consensus. Margarita Cabello Blanco remains the favorite candidate, having this time won thirteen votes.
The court President Jaime Arrubla scheduled the court to reconvene next Monday “to decide once and for all,” who will replace Mario Iguaran.
