Colombia’s Supreme Court on Thursday postponed the election of a new national prosecutor general for a fourth time, after failing to reach the two-thirds majority required to make the selection.
According to reports, no candidate managed to get the 16 out of 24 votes required to win the post.
This was the fourth time the magistrates convened to try to choose a new prosecutor general. Margarita Cabello Blanco remains the favorite candidate, having this time won nine votes.
The remaining candidates Camilo Ospina and Marco Antonio Velilla received eight votes and five votes respectively.
Magistrates will reconvene at a later date to vote for a fifth time for the new prosecutor general.
