Two Colombian nationals were killed in a rail accident in Spain that has claimed the lives of almost 80 people, Colombia’s ambassador to Madrid said Friday.

The Colombian ambassador to Spain Orlando Sardi was notified of the fatalities, his office announced Friday.

The accident, which took place on Wednesday, occurred when the train approached an area of the track that had been restricted to 80 km/h at approximately 190 km/h.

One of the Colombian victims was identified as Sara Fuenmayor; the family of the other victim has requested that their name is not released to the press.

In Spain, three days of national mourning have been declared as the country comes to terms with what is being labeled as it’s worst rail accident in 40 years.

The train driver has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Of the 130 taken to hospital, 95 are still being treated and 32 are being considered “seriously injured.”
