The majority of Colombians believe in miracles, the results of a poll carried out in five of Colombia’s largest cities said Friday.
Fifty-four percent of the respondents to the poll said to believe in miracles, while 45% responded negatively. One percent said to not know whether miracles happen.

Residents of the city of Bucaramanga are the firmest believers in miracles. According to 78% percent of the polled residents, events driven by a divine force occur.
Women in the cities proved slightly more superstitious than men; 57% of women said to believe in miracles against 52% of men.
According to the poll, clergies of the catholic church generate more trust than any other religious representative. 48% of Colombians said to trust Catholic priests. 21% believe in what evangelical pastors say, while only 6% put their faith in a shaman or witch.
The poll was held days before the canonization of Colombia’s first saint who, according to the church, performed two miracles after her death.
