The bodies of seven Colombians, employed to work in Venezuelan country estates, were found in the El Limon river on the Venezuelan side of the border between the two nations., reported Colombian media on Monday.

The bodies of the seven young males were found in conflict-ridden border region of La Zulia and taken for holding to morgues in Maracaibo, Venezuela.

One of the men was found with bruising to the face, as well as a bullet wound to the chest.

So far two of the men have been identified and found to be residents of the Colombian coastal city of Barranquilla. The remaining five are thought to be from the same city.

The families of the identified men travelled to Maracaibo to retrieve the bodies – one of whom was buried in the city itself and the other buried in his native Colombian city.

According to reports the seven men had travelled to the bordering nation to work in different country estates within the region and would often convene on the banks of the El Limon river during their breaks.

Three other Colombian nationals have also been reported as missing in the area.

La Zulia is recognized as one of the border states with the most conflict, related to both paramilitary and guerrilla action in the area.
