The Supreme Court in the Tolima department has sentenced the “Monster of Mariquita” to 11 years in prison for sexually abusing his daughter for 30 years.
60-year-old Arcedio Alvarez began raping his daughter, Alba Nidia, when she was seven years old. She gave birth to fourteen children, all fathered by Alvarez, over the next several decades. Only eight children survive today.
A local court previously sentenced Alvarez to 15 years for incest and sexual abuse, but Alvarez’s defense team contested the sentence.
