Colombian drug traffickers have been caught hiding cocaine inside chocolate Santa Claus.
Staff at London’s Gatwick airport found the drug in liquid form inside the Christmas-themed chocolates, reports UK newpaper The Mirror Thursday.
The Colombian cocaine gang were apprehended in Milan, and more of their secret stash was discovered at Bogota airport, also hidden in sweets packets.
The total drug haul is worth GB£1 million (more than COP3 billion).
Cocaine traffickers are seeking ever-more unusual hiding places for their goods. Earlier this month Lidl supermarket staff in Spain discovered millions of dollars of the drug, thought to have been shipped from Colombia via Africa, hidden in boxes of bananas.
