Authorities on Tuesday discovered and deactivated six bombs charged with 210kg of explosives believed to have been installed by FARC guerrillas in Huila.
The explosives, thought to be of an ammonia base, were discovered by intelligence units of the National Police near the town of Algeciras in the southern department of Huila, reported news station W Radio.
The police commander in the region, Colonel Flavio Castro Mesa, explained that “the explosive charge had a radio frequency activation system.”
Radio communication equipment and two batteries made up made up the ignition system, claimed Castro, who indicated that the explosives were inside aluminium barrels which the rebels had buried near a crossroads in the region.
Castro blamed the installation of the bombs on the ‘Ayiber Gonzalez’ company of an elite FARC mobile column active in the region.
