The Colombian Ministry for Tourism, Industry and Commerce this week announced two positive advances in the project to sign post Colombia’s roads with relevant tourist information.
The project coordinators, who are seeking to signpost 6,300km of Colombian roads with tourist trivia, declared that their ‘model design’ for the roadsigns has been accepted and will be adopted throughout the country.
The coordinators also announced that the new signpost design will be published in the Colombian ‘Road Sign Manual’ in its next publication, reported Colombian media on Monday.
The Minister for Tourism, Industry and Commerce claimed that he hoped to sign post 2,000km by the end of the year so that in December, tourists travelling by road will be able to clearly identify and follow the new signs to various touristic attractions along their route.
The Minister explained that the project is expected to cost around 6,600 million pesos.
The new signs will have their dimensions priviously set depending on what type of road they will be placed on and the colour scheme will follow that generally used throughout the world – brown background with white borders, text and pictograms.
The decisions about what sites merit a touristic signpost have been made through each Colombian department contributing an inventory of attractions they believe would be intriguing and enjoyable to tourists.
