Colombia’s 8th annual French film festival ready for take off

The eighth annual French Film Festival will run From September 11 until October 30, in honor of the Cannes Film Festival and French actress Isabelle Huppert.

Lovers of French film will be able to enjoy the latest and greatest offerings in movie theatres in Bogota, Cali, Medellin, Pereira, Valledupar, Barranquilla and Cartagena.

The festival will screen 40 previously unreleased films, and will feature special guest writer-director Claire Simon, whose film Les Bureaux de Dieu received rave reviews from critics at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

Simon will tour Colombia from the 9 to 15 September. She will visit Bogota and Medellin, and in both cities will hold discussions with students about the making of the film. Also participating will be the film’s co-writer, Colombian Natalia Rodriguez.

The Festival will also pay tribute to acress Isabelle Huppert, who first studied philosophy and arts at the Sorbonne before moving on to acting at universities in Versailles and Paris. She debuted as a stage actress in the late 1960s and proceeded to work with such great directors as Jean-Luc Godard, Marco Ferreri, Michael Haneke, and Claude Chabrol, among many others.
