International police organization Interpol said Friday it is not
investigating a video wherein FARC commander ‘Mono Jojoy’ confirms the rebels gave money to the 2006 campaign of Ecuadorean President
Correa, because Colombia never asked to.
Interpol “is not analyzing, evaluating or authenticating” the FARC video “allegedly seized in Bogota by the Colombian law enforcement.”
The international police organization said in a statement that Colombia never asked to analyze the seized material. Colombia’s Press secretary Cesar Mauricio Velasquez stated before that both the OAS and Interpol will investigate the video.
Instead, Interpol told Colombian authorities that there “is no need” to send a copy of the tape but a full transcript of its content to enter the information in global databases.
Interpol recalled it certified that computers seized by Colombia’s army after the bombing of a FARC camp in Eucador on March 1, 2008 belonged to ‘Raul Reyes’ and were not manipulated by Colombian military forces. However, Interpol made clear “that the authenticity of the laptops does not mean the validation of Colombia’s interpretaion of their contents.”
