President Alvaro Uribe’s refusal to compromise is endangering the release of hostage Pablo
Emilio Moncayo who was kidnapped 11 and half years ago, FARC leader Alfonso Cano said.
“Uribe’s intransigence and lack of generosity” deadlocked the unilateral release of Moncayo and puts the prisoners in danger, Cano said in a statement regarding the 45th anniversary of the FARC.
The Colombian government does not allow opposition senator Piedad Cordoba to mediate
the release of Moncayo as requested by the FARC.
President Uribe’s “fascist and totalitarian strategy of Roman Peace will destroy all those who seek political solutions to the problems of Colombia”, Cano added.
The term “Roman Peace” Cano refers to was the long period of relative peace achieved through military repression in the Roman Empire.
