International investment in Colombia continues to grow, especially in
the hotel infrastructure industry, according to the Latin Amercian
President of the InterContinental Hotels Group Alvaro Diago. InterContinental opened a Holiday Inn Express in northern Bogota Monday.
Diago said that financial incentives offered by the Colombian government combined with opportunities created by economic crisis mean that now is an ideal time to invest in the Colombian hotel industry.
InterContinental sunk 18 billion pesos into the Bogota Holiday Inn Express, which has 76 rooms and will cater primarily to the corporate sector. It is the multinational’s fifth property in Colombia. The Bogota Holiday Inn Express joins the InterContinental Cali, the
InterContinental Medellin, the Crowne Plaza Tequendama Bogota,
and the Holiday Inn Express Medellin.
Diago said he is looking into more potential investments in Bogota and Cartagena.
