The Colombian government will not allow DMG director David Murcia to
rebuild his shut-down company through new firms, Finance minister Oscar
Ivan Zuluaga said Monday.
The DMG director had said that from his Bogota jail he would be setting up new businesses in the southern department of Putumayo that would involve the tens of thousands of people who lost their money when the government shut down DMG on allegations of being a ponzi scheme and laundering money for drug traffickers.
Zuluaga told Caracol Radio in reaction that “under no circumstance” the government would allow this to happen.
“I find it very serious, because behind all this is a criminal operation. This means that it would revive absolutely illegal activities, financed by illicit companies.The government can not and will not allow this,” Zuluaga said.
Colombia’s prison authority INPEC is conducting an investigation in Bogota’s Picota prison to find out how Murcia could get his hands on a mobile phone to mobilize followers to start new companies and help him be voted into the Senate.
