A player of Colombian soccer club Cucuta Deportivo was arrested for the
alleged rape and assault of a 22-year old woman, authorities announced
Wednesday.
According to the Cucuta Prosecution Office, Jhon Freddy Rivas was arrested Monday after having been accused of raping and beating up the woman Saturday morning.
The victim states the soccer player had been in her house the night before, together with a female friend of the woman and two of Rivas’ friends. After the sportsman had words with the woman, all left her home.
Rivas then returned in the morning and broke into the woman’s home where he assaulted and raped her, the woman says.
After the woman filed the complaint, Rivas was arrested Monday. Authorities are investigating the accusations.
