Independiente de Medellín are back in contention in the Copa
Libertadores, following an impressive 2-1 victory over Brazilian giants
Sao Paulo this Wednesday.
DIM took the lead through Diego Cabrera in the 15th minute, following preparing work from Restrepo, and a shot from Rafael Castillo was sufficiently deflected by Sao Paulo’s Rodrigo to make it 2-0 in the 27th.
The Brazilians got one back at six minutes from the break as André Lima struck home for 2-1.
But the Colombian hosts remained calm and did well to defend their advantage in the second half, giving themselves a chance to dream of the next round.
Medellín are now second in Group 4 with just one match to go. Defensor (Uruguay) are third with three points less and a game in hand. América de Cali, fourth in this group, host Defensor on Thursday.
