Three days after announcing his departure from Bogotá football club
Independiente Santa Fe, manager Hernán Dario Gómez retracted his
earlier decision and will now be staying at the club.
Gómez initially quit following Santa Fe’s Copa Mustang match with Quindío (2-3) but the support he received since, practically forced him to change his mind.
“After watching the attitude of the players, the support from these guys (…) any manager would have to continue,” he said at a press conference this Wednesday.
The support was made clear to the public as 15 Santa Fe players joined their coach at the club’s administrative department, where the conference was held, ahead of their usual morning training session.
“I love Santa Fe a lot, I don’t want to go and we don’t deserve to be where we are. We have seven matches left and we are very hopeful ahead of them,” Gómez concluded.
Santa Fe, seven-times Colombian champions, are currently in 11th position at five points from leaders Tolima.
