The Colombian branch of the International Committee of the Red Cross
received US$450,000 to help victims of the rains and floods torturing
the country.
The money was donated by the Dutch, Spanish, Norwegian and Japanese Red Cross and the Islamic sister organization Red Moon and were meant to be used to help the approximately 40,000 victims of the February floods in Nariño.
The Red Cross may use the funds to also attend victims of extreme weather that hit 20 of Colombia’s 32 departments over the past few days.
The money will be used to buy food and basic sanitary necessities of victims and the rescue of people in emergency situations.
