Deportivo Cali remain in first place after a 1-1 draw with arch rivals
América. Nacional and Medellín forgot to score in the ‘Paisa’ classic,
while Junior made up for last week’s defeat by Cartagena.
Just 20 minutes had been played at Cali’s Pascual Guerrero stadium, when Danny Aguilar put the current leaders ahead. However, Gustavo Ramos equalised another four minutes later and no more goals were scored in this game.
The classic of Medellín was a particularly disappointing event, with neither side willing to make a real difference. As a result, Nacional remain in last place and their changes of making it to the next round are slim.
Cartagena beat Junior 0-2 in Barranquilla last week, and were served the exact same result this time around, albeit with Junior taking the points. Ricardo Ciciliano scored on 51 minutes and Luis Ruiz made it 0-2 in the 83rd. Cartagena’s Rafael Márquez was dismissed on 75 minutes.
Deportes Tolima moved into second place thanks to a 0-2 win at Atlético Huila. Juan Ramírez broke the deadlock on 29 minutes and Wilder Medina ended all doubts at five minutes from the end.
Cúcuta Deportivo needed only one goal to find their way past Envigado. The decider was scored by Roberto Gamarra in the 78th minute.
No goals were scored at the match between Once Caldas and Pereira in Manizales. The away side ended the match with nine men on the pitch as John Lozano was sent off just before the break and Francisco Córdoba followed near full time.
Chicó dropped to third place due to a 2-2 draw with Quindío, who took the lead twice but allowed the hosts to level both times. Both of Quindío’s goals were scored by Dany Santoya, while Miguel Caneo and Juan Mahecha netted for Chicó.
La Equidad did well to earn a small win at Deportivo Pasto. The only goal of the game came from Efrain Viáfara in the 79th minute. Teammate Jhersson Córdoba was sent for an early shower two minutes later.
Cali remain in the lead with 17 points from nine games, one point more than Tolima and Chicó.
