Copa Mustang: Chicó back in first place as Junior lose

Boyacá Chicó are the new leaders in the Colombian Copa Mustang, beating
La Equidad 2-0 while previous leaders Junior Barranquilla lost to
Deportivo Cali.

Chicó, third ahead of Saturday’s game, hosted second-placed La Equidad in Tunja. The home side took the lead through Anthony Tapia on 28 minutes and Miguel Canero made it 2-0 from the penalty spot just before the break.

In the first phase of the second half, Chicó lost two players as Mario García and Anthony Tapia were sent off. La Equidad couldn’t take advantage though and went a man down themselves when Jhersson Córdoba was expelled in the 92nd minute.

Red cards dominated the day as Junior’s Roller Ibarra was sent off after only three minutes at Cali. The hosts then scored the opener through Jamell Ramos on 12 minutes but Teófilo Gutiérrez made it 1-1 in the 35th. The winner came on 64 minutes when Sergio Herrera converted a spot kick.

Cali’s Diego Valdes wouldn’t see the end of the match, as he was sent away two minutes into added time.

Atlético Nacional finally earned their first points of the season, beating Millonarios 1-0 at Atanasio Girardot stadium. Humberto Mendoza headed home from close range in the 67th minute.

Nacional’s Wanter Moreno conceded a second yellow card in the 89th minute and Millonarios captain Gerardo Bedoya misses the next match, conceding an unnecessary second booking after the final whistle.
