Colombian police and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) have captured “Coyote,” a ringleader of the country’s largest rebel insurgency the FARC.
The anti-kidnapping and anti-extortion unit of the National Police, collaborating with the DEA in “Operation Freedom” captured Pedro Rosas, who is also known under the aliases Coyote and “Diomer”, on April 6 in the northern department of Arauca.
Coyote has reportedly been a member of Colombia’s largest rebel insurgency since 1986 and was leader of the “Camilo Torres” front which falls under the direction of the larger, Eastern bloc. Rosas is wanted under various charges ranging from aggravated kidnapping, aggravated murder, terrorism and rebellion.
Rosas also supposedly took part in the 1998 FARC attack of police and army bases in Miraflores, Guaviare, during which 16 security forces and three civilians were killed.
