Colombia’s national soccer team has on Thursday moved ahead of Portugal to claim outright sixth place in the latest FIFA world rankings.
The newly released March rankings list Colombia in sixth place with 1,159 points, a thirty point jump over their February point tally.
Colombia trails fifth placed Italy by only 14 points, a slight improvement over the 28 point gap between them last month.

Colombia’s ascent at Portugal’s expense marked the only change in the top 10 standings from last month. Meanwhile Spain, Germany, Argentina, England and Italy have held on to their respective positions in the top five spots. Spain still sits far in front with 1,610 points, with second place Germany trailing on 1,473.
Colombia’s National soccer team will play two matches this March, one against Bolivia and the other against Venezuela. With neither team ranking in the top 30, Colombia has a solid chance to move up in the rankings.
Several changes occurred lower down in the FIFA rankings, with Afghanistan surging up 48 places, to attain the 141st position. India has also made a jump in the rankings, moving up 24 places to 143rd.
