Colombia is the 7th most desirable nation in the world to retire to, according to the global travel magazine “International Living.”
Each year the magazine publishes an index that ranks the ten mot desirable retirement destinations , with this year’s report listing Colombia at a commendable seventh place.
Colombia is “a country that is more beautiful, dramatic and diverse than nearly any other,” read the report.
Colombia also scored points on its relatively low cost of living, solid infrastructure and large range of modern goods and services that befits what the magazine described as “a country on the move.”
International Living claimed that the results of the index were arrived at through a qualitative approach that compiled “a series of criteria including, infrastructure, health care, ease of integration, real estate, special benefits, etc.”
Colombia’s neighbor Ecuador grabbed the number one spot, primarily owing to the low cost of living the country offers. Indeed, real estate prices are particularly eye catching, with a penthouse suite in a prime beach or city location allegedly setting you back a mere $50 000.
The full list of retiree nations in order of rank (and possibly aging population) are Ecuador, Panama, Malaysia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Colombia, Spain, Thailand and Malta.
