The approval of Colombia President Juan Manuel Santos strengthened at the outset of 2013, according to a survey Monday.
CNC, a national polling agency, found that 66% of Colombians approved of their President, while 31% maintain disapproval.
The president’s approval rating climbed since December, but over the course of the 2012 it suffered a 17-point fall.
A majority of Colombians still feel pessimistic toward their country’s level of joblessness and the government’s recent tax reform measures.
But Santos has kept up in other areas; 72% of Colombians approve of the peace talks between the Colombian government and the Farc, which began in October of 2012.
Santos’ image was volatile in 2012. Colombians’ perception of their President’s image whipsawed from around a 75% approval rating during most of the first half of 2012 to 66% in August. It sunk again in December after climbing to 80% in October.
