In a candid conversation that was leaked to Noticias Uno, Bogota Mayor Gustavo Petro admitted that a new state-run company will not hire as many workers as the private sector has done.
The contracts for the four companies that currently collect trash in Colombia’s capital are set to expire on December 18 and the city’s socialist mayor is planning on municipalizing the collection of trash, which has led to clashes between the mayor and the companies currently collecting trash in Bogota.
