Colombia news - Missing Colombian

U.S. authorities have found a bloody backpack that belongs to a missing Colombian in the closet of the number one murder suspect.

The 18-year-old Colombian Christian Aguilar was last seen on September 20 in Gainesville, in north Florida where he is attending the University of Florida, before getting into a fight with Pedro Bravo, who allegedly ended up killing the teenager.

Though police have not yet found the body of Aguilar, they are charging Bravo, a friend of the Colombian’s from high school, with first degree murder after finding the backpack as well as traces of Aguilar’s blood in his friend’s car, reported WPTV.

“The police department of Gainesville has accused Pedro Bravo for the assassination of Christian Aguilar. The body of Christian Aguilar has still not been recovered,” said the police representative Ben Tobias.

Authorities have also reported that the accused had bought duct tape and a shovel a few days previous to the alleged murder.

Through various conflicting versions of what happened, Bravo admitted to police that he had gotten into a fight with Aguilar Thursday night, but has not admitted to murder and is refusing to cooperate with further details.

In one of his accounts, Bravo said he left the Colombian “bloody and barely breathing” on the side of the road after a fight that took place in his car, over what police believe to be a dispute over a girl.

Gainesville Police are continuing to search for Aguilar’s body and said that they “are trying to establish a timeline for Pedro on Thursday, when Christian disappeared.” They are also still seeking any relevant information from citizens about the boy’s whereabouts Thursday night.

Christian Aguilar was born in Miama, with both parents from Colombia’s third largest city Cali. Aguilar and Bravo were allegedly friends from high school, and both moved to Gainesville later to attend universities.

The father of the teenager, Carlos Aguilar, said that his family has not given up hope that they will find the young boy still alive.
