Colombia news - San Pacho

The San Pacho twenty-day festival will continue partying for one more week before ending on October 4 just in time for a day of reflection.

In the city of Quibdo, the capital of western department Choco, the people celebrate the Patron Saint Francis of Assisi, otherwise known as San Pacho from neighborhood to neighborhood.

The festival that started on September 20 will continue to host dancing, eating, drinking, and parading through various neighborhoods until October 4. On the last day of the festival, after a continuity of music and cacophony has been blasting through the streets for the previous weeks, the city will wake up to silence in reverence for San Pacho.

Many festivities are still to come in the following week.

Highlights for next week:

October 3

  • Boat choreography in the Atrato River
  • Costume parade
  • Fireworks

October 4

  • Patron Saint procession
  • Mass…and other more pious things
