Six people were injured and approximately 100 homes were damaged in a bomb attack on a prosecution office in the southwestern Colombian city of Popayan on Friday.
The 150-pound bomb exploded in front of the downtown prosecution office around 1:50AM, the police commissioner of the Cauca department told media.
Among the injured is a prosecutor, Cali newspaper El Pais reported.
According to the newspaper, some 400 inhabitants of the area spent the night on the street out of fear for a new attack.
While authorities haven’t established the suspected perpetrators of the attack, they did not rule out that the bomb was planted by Colombia’s largest guerrilla group FARC.
Popayan is the capital of Cauca where FARC guerrillas and armed forces have been fighting heavily for years. The city itself had not been subjected to rebel attacks for over a year.
