The second festival of “Visiones de Mexico en Colombia” comes to the Gabriel Garcia Marquez cultural center in Bogota on Thursday.

The two-week long festival seeks to strengthen and broaden the cultural offerings of Mexico in Colombia and to build bridges between the two nations.

The festival has many different free events for all types of publications. The Mexican book fair at Patio Jose Eustasio Rivera at the cultural center will have more than 15,000 books from diverse editors including more than 500 novels from Mexico.

This year Colombian and international authors have been invited to present their books and lectures and conferences will be held for the general public in the Gabriel Garcia Marquez cultural center and in other places in the city.

Many Mexican authors will be attending the festival along with Mexican artisans, painters and chefs.

The Colombian authors who are confirmed to attend are Dario Jaramillo Agudelo, Juan Gustavo Cobo Borda, Federico Diaz Granados, John Galan Casanova, Catalina Gonzalez and Juan Felipe Robledo.

The second meeting takes the form of a lecture entitled “Formation of readers in early childhood,” and involves Mexican, Colombian and other international specialists with the intent to directly support the Colombian government in its efforts to promote reading.

The festival also has a colorful art and film program and visitors can enjoy Mexican food and traditional live Mexican music.

The program of free events is available here.
