A 67-year old woman has been assassinated inside a church, local media reported.
According to the reports, the murder took place on Sunday in a church in El Dovio, a village in the southwestern Valle del Cauca department.
Nelly Perea Gonzalez, 67, was shot three times as she walked toward the confessional, according to the initial police report.
Local authorities said to not know why the woman was killed.
Priest Jairo de Jesus Ospina condemned the killing and called on “all the perpetrators of violence” to recognize that it “is not the way.”
The local religious leader decided to close the church for 40 days in mourning.
