Shakira blackmailed by former employees

Colombia news - Shakira

Shakira has been blackmailed by former employees, reported website Terra Monday.

The former employees allegedly are threatening to share private details from the Colombian singer’s personal life if she refuses to pay them a substantial amount of money.

A Colombian couple, Divier and Maritza, worked in Shakira’s home for 11 years before being dismissed after a debate over what they felt to be an insufficient liquidation of assets totaling almost $6,000. Instead, they have asked for approximately $150,000 in exchange for keeping the singer’s personal life private from the press.

Though the pair claim to have material that would uncover intimate details of Shakira’s life, there has been no reliable evidence pointing to such proof or photos of the singer’s private life.

Upon dismissal from the home that Shakira shares with her boyfriend, soccer player Gerard Pique, in Barcelona, the former employees refused to sign the dismissal document and have begun a legal battle against the Colombian singer. The case is currently being managed by lawyers from both sides to come to an agreement.

To add to the mess, the couple allegedly called Shakira’s ex-boyfriend, son of a former Argentine president, Antionio de la Rua, to help them with their residency in Spain. Shakira denied to renew their visas as she had in past years, making the two effectively illegal. Rua was seen helping the couple in Barcelona, leading some to believe he has been in on the plot from the beginning.

So far the singer has not denied or confirmed any of the rumors.
