Colombian authorities said Tuesday it was likely that the FARC cemetery discovered in southern Colombia contains the remains of military personnel.
According to General Alejandro Navas, commander of the armed forces, “There could be many disappeared and guerrillas of the FARC, because it is a cemetery for them. But also soldiers and abducted, of whom there has been no news.”
Members of Task Force Omega are still working to identify hundreds of remains found in common graves in the municipality of Cartagena del Chaira, Caqueta department.
It is “not officially known the number [found dead],” said Navas at a ceremony at the Joseph Maria Cordova Military Academy in Bogota. “There’s a large number of CTI [intelligence staff)] working and the results of their findings will soon be released publicly.”
