South American music and culture website Sounds and Colours will release their first-ever print edition, focusing on Colombia, this summer.
Entitled Sounds and Colours Presents Colombia, the 208-page book will include articles on all aspects of Colombian culture and will come with a CD featuring some of Colombia’s up-and-coming musical talent.
“Our passion for South America has always led us to find out the most interesting stories within both popular and alternative culture, showing no regard for popularity, or between high and low culture,” Sounds and Colours editor Russell Slater told Colombia Reports.
“Simply, we want to highlight what we believe are the most interesting, vibrant and relevant aspects of South American culture.”
The book will focus heavily on Colombian music such as cumbia, mjusic from the Pacific, vallenato and salsa, but will also feature articles on Colombian cinema, indigenous culture, alternative tourist destinations, the Barranquilla Carnival and more.
In order to cover the printing costs, Sounds and Colours is seeking donations.
