The FARC have asked the Red Cross (ICRC) to facilitate the release of French journalist Romeo Langlois, the international aid organization told French press agency AFP Sunday.
“We have received the report directly from the group … We are very happy with the announcement of the release and we are ready to organize the release where ever and as soon as possible,” the ICRC head in Colombia, Jordi Raich, was quoted as saying by AFP.
According to Raich, the FARC want that the release mission will be formed by members of the Red Cross, former Senator Piedad Cordoba and a delegate of French President-elect Francois Hollande, who added that the ICRC is now waiting for a time and a location where the aid organization can pick up Langlois.
“At the moment we are told the time and place we can go by land and by river to any location as we have done in many occasions,” said Raich.
The FARC have held the French journalist captive since April 28 when the army unit he was accompanying was attacked. Langlois got shot in the arm during the attack while four to 17 soldiers were killed.
