The upcoming Colombian-Venezuelan Binational Film Festival will feature the 12 best movies made in each country over the past three years.
Films will compete for Best Director, Best Screenplay, Audience Award and Best Film at the event, taking place between March 18 and 22 in the border cities of Cucuta and San Cristobal.
Each country will choose a winner for the last category, which will then be awarded distribution rights in the opposite country.
According to President of the Foundation for Development of Arts and Culture, Karina Franco, the ministries of culture in both countries support the event in hopes of increasing bilateral cultural exchange.
Colombian films that will be presented in the festival are “Colors of the Mountain” by Carlos Arbelaez, “Trips of the Wind” by Ciro Guerra, “Blood and Rain” by Jorge Navas, “The Crab Trap” by Oscar Ruiz Navia, “All Your Dead” by Carlos Moreno and “Portraits in a Sea of Lies” by Carlos Gaviria.
