Almost all the judges of the Colombian high courts will be investigated over an allegedly corrupt scheme in which judges rotated jobs in order to secure bigger pensions.
The Accusations Commission of the House of Representatives began a preliminary investigation against the judges following fresh complaints about what has been dubbed the “pensions carousel.”
An investigative team will be appointed next week and will determine which judges will be called forward to give a statement.
Judges from the State Council as well as the Constitutional and Supreme Courts are implicated. According to reports, even the President of the State Council Gustavo Gomez was involved.
Gomez vehemently denied the allegations, calling them “absolutely absurd.”
