The Colombian police seized an illegal gold deposit allegedly run by the FARC and Rastrojos and arrested 29 in the southwestern Nariño department Thursday.
According to police sources, the mine was jointly controlled by the FARC and the Rastrojos and was providing them with up to $85,000 in revenue.
The police were accompanied by environmental and mining officials during the raid.
Along with the 29 people arrested, a backhoe, high-power drills and machinery valued at more than $110,000 were also seized.
Nariño is a strategic location for drug trafficking and much of the department is controlled by FARC and ELN guerrilla groups and the Rastrojos drug cartel.
